The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted; to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the LORD’S favor and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes; the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendor.

Isaiah 61:1-3

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a powerful psychotherapy approach that has helped over an estimated two million people of all ages relieve many types of psychological distress.

How long does EMDR Therapy take?

A typical EMDR therapy session lasts 60-90 minutes. The type of problem, life circumstances and the amount of previous trauma will determine how many treatment sessions are necessary.

What is the EMDR session like?

During the session, the therapist works with the client to identify a specific problem as the focus of the treatment session. The client recalls the disturbing event or issue and what thoughts and beliefs are currently held about that event. As the therapist facilitates EMDR with the client, the event is reprocessed using directional movement of the eyes or other dual attention stimulation of the brain. The client may experience intense emotions, but by the end of the session, most people report a great reduction in the level of disturbance.
